Following the devastating February 2023 Turkey–Syria Earthquakes, a cross-disciplinary team supported by USAID – Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance carried out a critical damage reconnaissance mission in June 2023. 🏚️🌐

🌍 Among the team members were Anirudh Rao and Luis Martins from GEM Foundation. Over the span of five intense days, experts from:

  • 🛰️ U.S. Geological Survey (USGS)
  • 🇹🇷 KOERI
  • 🏛️ Middle East Technical University (METU)
  • 🏫 Hacettepe University
  • 🔬 GEM Foundation

...carried out rapid structural assessments of over 500 buildings across the affected areas.
